The Art Stroll

When it comes to travelling, a simple dialogue by Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice comes to mind.

I’m very fond of walking.’

And apart from the excellent cardio that even a simple stroll provides, walking, be it on the street, in a mall or even in an airport, in any part of the world leads to some of the most aesthetic adventures one can have. I’ve come across some really mind blowing pieces of art while on a stroll. And when I say art, I mean anything right from paintings to statues to flower arrangements to neat shops and even culinary aesthetic because no stroll is complete without stopping for a bite to eat. So, without further ado, Imma show you some art discovered on the go, ft. the world.

This is a Shrek graffiti in a Dreamworks shop in London. I came across this one while strolling along the London Eye Pier. I love the mosaic effect on the scene as it really gives of a Medieval Ages vibe. Also, plot twist: I did proceed to enter the shop and buy meself a plushie dragon.

Hehe.

This is a stall in the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. These glass mosaic lamps are works of very intricate art themselves and the arrangement makes it look like an Alibaba’s Cave of sorts.

Ok, Question: Is this a picture in a frame or is it an actual gateway?

Minus ten if you say either of those, cause this is actually the door of a lift. It was quite an illusion to come across this in a hotel in Siem Reap, Cambodia. I mean, I was about to walk right into a closed lift if it wasn’t for the number screen beside it. Cambodia is one place that will always remain a mystery.

This statue is basically trunks stacked one on top of the other. I feel it’s quite a novel way to indicate a station but honestly, it did take a while for me figure this one out when I came across it while strolling past the Saint Lazare station in Paris. I also love how this piece of modern art fits in with the stone buildings in the background even though their origins are the very definition of contrast.

Ahhh yes, the culinary art at last! This is a Crème Brûlée which I got from a cafe called ‘Awfully Chocolate’ in Singapore. Strolling across a whole city country has its bonuses. Besides, you get to keep the dish so it’s a real win.

This is a handmade toy stall at the airport in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This includes crochet toys and paper quilling dolls and honestly, it was one of the most fun things I’ve come across in an airport. Sometimes, missing a flight is worth it.

Said no one ever. Hehe.

I didn’t miss a flight. No worries.

This flower arrangement was quite an accidental find. I was literally strolling aimlessly through the Phoenix Mall in Pune and I decided to take a selfie near the railings and then, this presented itself as the background. I don’t remember if I took the selfie but this found its way into the camera roll. My own city never fails to surprise me.

Besides, who doesn’t love a good flower show?

And that is a wrap!

Until next time:)

Paka:))
