Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights. It is the brightest time of the year in India, with lanterns and earthen lamps and sparkles in every nook and cranny. This post is a small one as an ode to the light within each one of us.
Sparklers. The peaceful firework.
This is a rangoli in my home. A rangoli is a design made on the floor using coloured powder or flowers, topped with earthen lamps. It’s an activity every kid in the house looks forward to, come Diwali.
Every balcony in India at the time of Diwali will have a sky lantern and a small rangoli. Sky lanterns make an appearance exclusively during the festival, adding more definition to the festival of lights.
The Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai, lit up for Diwali. This picture is my favourite and is always a picture I like showing for Diwali :)))
A temple in Pune, all lit up for Diwali. Another Diwali favourite.
A flower pot. Another noiseless firework. Being able to light one is considered a huge achievement if you are below twelve;)
